One question we get asked a lot when remodeling kitchens is “How can we open this up to the rest of the house?” The answer usually involves removing load-bearing walls. In this case, we needed to add some pretty hefty steel beams as well, in order to support the second story. Jim Campisi and his team had to lift the heavy steel beams into the existing floor and ceiling to make it all work. Then they had to make them disappear. This takes real skill, some brute force, and persistence but this seasoned builder rose to the challenge. What’s the end result? One of the most refined, elegant, detailed kitchens we’ve ever opened up.
